Andy Kirkpatrick is a pioneer of winter climbing in Patagonia with many hair-raising ascents to his name.
This hilarious film documents his latest Patagonian horror show – an attempt at the first winter ascent of Torre Egger with fellow alpinist Ian Parnell.
This Jury Statement from the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival sums up the film perfectly:
“Our choice in the Mountaineering category was a story of two working class lads with typical self-deprecating British humour. One climber refers to his partner as ‘a crevasse poodle’ who can sniff out danger.
These guys filmed their ascent on their own – a remarkable achievement in itself – and knew when to leave well enough alone. The humour they displayed while holed up for four days in a snow cave was refreshing and highly entertaining.”
