Frankton Reptiles are off to a flying start in this years 20 20 competition with 2 wins from our first 2 outings.
Week one saw us take on Kelvin Heights who we were surprised to find had an even higher average age than ourselves. A steady batting performance set up a comfortable win by 50 odd runs. The highlight of this win was a hat-trick taken by Mark McKone – the very first one of the 2 years of this competition we believe. The only low light was a series of dropped catches but in the end a strong win was achieved.
Week 2 saw us take on a depleted Lake Hayes Estate in the Friday night game and we were after revenge after it being one of our only 2 losses last year. We batted first and after some early trouble at 25 for 3 a 70 run partnership between Simon Hawken (54) and Steve Brent (30) saw us post a respectable 143. LHE will regret dropping Simon 3 times. Our opening bowlers Alan Sandford and Shaun McKone were unplayable and LHE struggled through to 35 for 3 after 12 overs and finally battled away to a total of 81 after some more gentle bowling in the later overs. Player of the day was Steve Brent for his vital knock and some tidy wicketkeeping. Also pleasing was the fact that there were no dropped catches in week 2.
