Queenstown’s elders will be treated to a free lunch today – and the local weather man has booked himself a seat.
David Crow has attended the Mactodd seniors luncheon at Queenstown Memorial Hall for the past five years and this Winter Festival is no exception.
“The school children all wait on us and then they put on a show. It fills in a couple of hours. It’s a very good get together,” the Wakatipu Senior Citizens Association member says.
Crow, who is “well over 50”, will be among about 200 other oldies having a chinwag over a tipple of sherry and three-course meal put on by the local law office.
He hopes roast dinner and apple crumble will be on the menu, and though he can’t remember exactly what was dished up last year, Crow says the feast is always tasty.
“Most people don’t have any trouble finishing it anyhow.”
