Ladi6 and Parks will bring an MC/DJ set to Queenstown’s Vinyl Underground tomorrow night.
The Kiwi hip hop songstress (pictured) says she and partner Parks perfected the set while touring Europe.
“We’ve kind of nailed it actually,” Ladi6 says.
“It’s mostly from Automatic – with a couple from Time Is Not Much and The Liberation Of .”
New album Automatic was recorded in Detroit with renowned producer Waajeed.
“We’re the most happiest with Automatic,”
“We feel we’ve finally got to a place where we can make the sound and the type of songs that we want to do.
“Liberation was us trying hard to do that and not quite nailing it but with Automatic we feel we got there and can only improve from here.
“It’s a step up and a step forward, which will lead to more in terms of the musicality, how we want to sound.
“With post-production, the people we got mix and master this were just so much more superior to the people before – not really for any other reason that they mix and master the type of music we’re producing, which really makes a difference.
“We just didn’t know that before. We’re really quite excited about the music we’re going to make in the future – this feels like the best so far but only really touching on what’s going to come in the future.”
Grammy-award winning engineer Todd Fairall worked on the album along with band members Julien Dyne and B. Haru and guest vocalists Scribe, Parks and Tyra Hammond and esteemed Detroit MC Invincible.
