A David v Goliath battle is on the cards for WinterFest’s charity boxing extravaganza Thriller in the Chiller – but not from gloved-up contenders.
Queenstowner Marc Perry – aka Marcus Kool – who stands a mere 1.77 metres and weighs 77kgs, is taking on the mammoth 1.98m, 119kg former Kiwi champ Matt Wilson in a wrestling warm-up on the night.
Brisbane-based Wilson, otherwise known as Max Damage, is set on embarrassing underdog Kool on his home turf in the Kiwi Pro Wrestling spectacular.
But Kool says he’s planning on using his signature superkick – to
the jaw – to down the hulking Damage at the Events Centre on June 26.
“I’m going to shut him up for the Queenstowners,” Kool promises.
Kool is also opening the all-new Queenstown Pro Wrestling Academy the day after Thriller.
To mark the academy’s first intake, on the day, he and rival Damage will hold a three-hour session at the resort’s Fight Science gym for people wanting a taste of the sport.
