Kid’s set to party

Acclaimed Aussie DJ Kid Kenobi finally makes his Queenstown debut on Saturday – after a few near misses.

In his glittering 14-year career on the decks, he’s scooped just about every dance music award going across the Ditch.

This includes being named Australia’s favourite DJ for a record three years on the trot and he’s also knocked up more than 20 remixes for some of the biggest names in dance, rock and pop.

Kid is slso the first DJ to have a CD series named after him by the world-famous Ministry of Sound.

Now he can’t wait to meet his fans in the resort.

“For some reason I’ve never been to Queenstown before but I’ve been close a few times, having played twice in Wanaka and snowboarded over there too,” Kenobi says.

“Ski towns are always pretty crazy and I’ve partied harder than normal in those places. Whatever happens in Queenstown, I reckon I’ll be in for a big night.”

But Kenobi admits his partying days might be numbered, having recently become a dad.

“I’ve been locked down working in the studio lately, running my label Klub Kids and being father to our six-month-old daughter Ayanna,” he says.

“I’ve got a new single and new EP coming from my production group Too Fresh as well as a brand new EP from myself as Kid Kenobi so there’s lots look forward to.”
