Kids from a local preschool are turning into animals for Winter Festival’s street parade today.
More than 50 children from Queenstown Preschool and Nursery are getting decked out in creature costumes and marching two by two through the resort’s streets following Noah and his ark for the family event on Saturday, June 26.
Staff at the kindergarten say recent flooding on the lakefront inspired the biblical theme.
“Because of the floods in Queenstown we thought it would be cool to do Noah’s Ark – and the kids like all the animals,” teacher Claire Powell says.
The boat and outfits, which took about four hours to make, have got the kids in festival mode.
“They’ve been asking when the parade is,” Powell says. “Even the babies are going to be in it.”
