Flourishing cycle tourism industry set to be enhanced by new book
Cycle tourism is well and truly booming in New Zealand. Over the last five years, 318,000 international tourists participated in cycling sports and these tourists spent more than $1,300 more in New Zealand than international tourists that did not go cycling. Encouraging tourism through cycling not only enhances tourism for New Zealand; it does so in an environmentally-friendly, low cost way.
“Cycling is booming and so is every region investing in cycling. In the last five years over $10 million has been spent on cycle trails in Otago and Southland. This is an investment in the future,” says the author.
The ultimate Queenstown cycling guide book will be released on November 1st by publisher and authors, The Kennett Brothers. The authors claim that “this is the best biking region on the planet. If you’re mad about cycling and had to choose only one place to pursue your passion, this is it.”
The resort town of Queenstown has only 14,000 permanent residents, but their tourist visitor numbers are around two million tourists annually. Queenstown and Otago also attract tourists from across New Zealand, particularly Christchurch and the South Island.
Books like Queenstown & Central Otago Best Bikes Rides can hugely contribute to tourism in Queenstown and Central Otago.
