An Australian invasion is planned for Queenstown Jazzfest.

Top acts from across the Tasman will play in the resort and at Arrow-town and Gibbston next month. Most shows are free.

“We want the Australian artists to get out and about as much as possible so people in different areas can enjoy the talent,” festival director Simon Green says.

Acclaimed pianist Daniel Gassin and his trio play the Jazz Village stage at the Village Green on Friday, October 22, the Willows tavern in Arrowtown and Queenstown’s Les Alpes the next day – and they’re also at Gibbston Valley Wines on the Sunday.

The Melbourne-based James Annesley Quartet is at Chico’s on October 22 before other gigs at Pub on Wharf and Chico’s and Arrowtown’s New Orleans.

Brisbane bluesmen Mike Frost and the Icemen team up with Aussie guitarist/vocalist Mojo Webb at the Village Green on October 22 and appear at Queenstown’s Earnslaw Park and the Willows in Arrowtown on October 23.

And hot trio Pan Francis bring their quirky melodies and thumping beats to Millbrook Resort on October 22, the Village Green and the Rees St Deli the next afternoon plus The Tap in Arrowtown on the Sunday.
