Winter Festival isn’t just for grown-ups – there’s plenty for the kids. Many of these events are free – so parents, slot them into the diary.

Mums too, shouldn’t feel left out – there’s a treat in store for you as well: a fashion afternoon filled with fun and bubbles.

American Express Opening Party  & Fireworks

Top New Zealand percussion group Strike will get the Winter Festival off to a thumping start with a live outdoor show.

The opening party, supported by Creative NZ, is a chance to mingle with your mates along the lakefront.

Join the fun – browse the food stalls, warm up with mulled wine from Queenstown’s Lions Club then clock the fireworks at 7.30pm.

When: Friday, June 26, 6pm – fireworks at 7.30pm

Where: Earnslaw Park

Cost: Gold coin donation, half of which goes to the Bruce Grant Youth Trust

 

Festival Street Parade 

A family favourite, this colourful parade of vehicles, people and floats will see Queenstown streets come alive.

The resort’s businesses, community groups and festival sponsors have dedicated time and energy to this event.

Get into the spirit and join the big crowds.

Wellington Phoenix v Melbourne Victory

After the Festival Street Parade, head out to the Events Centre for an afternoon of top-notch soccer action as Wellington Phoenix plays Melbourne Victory.

New Zealand’s favourite A-League team takes on the competition’s champions on what must surely be one of the most scenic football pitches in the world.

When: Saturday, June 27, 2.30pm

More FM Wild About Water Pool Party

Go crazy in the water at Alpine Aqualand for this winter’s coolest pool party.

There are great prizes to be won, music from More FM, treasure hunts and other fun action, so kids – get your parents to bring you along.
