A lucky Queenstown singer will get the chance to star alongside Kiwi rock legend Jordan Luck at Winter Festival’s opening party.
Luck – famous for hits like Why Does Love Do This To Me and Victoria – will headline the June 24 mega-bash on a stage built over the water at Queenstown Bay.
This year’s event has a ‘Slice of Heaven’ theme to showcase the best-loved songs in New Zealand and will be topped off with a sizzling fireworks display.
To get the party started, following a set from a local band some of the country’s top session musicians will blast out a solid hour of hits, backing a selection of top vocalists including Pop Force, Chris Powley, Mana Farrell, Leon Wharekura and Lotto’s Russell Harrison.
A slot has also been left open for a local singer to get up and perform their favourite Kiwi track.
“We have some great local talent here in Queenstown and we want to give someone the chance to not only perform on Queenstown’s biggest stage, but to also experience what it’s like to work with some of the best musos this country has to offer,” festival boss Simon Green says.
Anyone wanting to take part will need to upload a video of them performing their favourite Kiwi song and the winner will be picked from an online poll. Further details from winterfestival.co.nz.
