Frankton Reptiles, after last week clinching a place in the top four with a convincing win over defending champs Fernhill, scored a resounding win over Arrowtown in the semi final played Sunday to take their place in the grand final against the Central Queenstown Pelicans.
After winning the toss and sending Arrowtown in to bat a superb bowling and fielding effort saw Arrowtown restricted to 79 for 9 after their 20 overs. Fraser Hill with 2 for 6 of his 4 overs , Kyle Paterson with 1 for 11 and Alan Sanford 2 for 15 applied the pressure and Arrowtown were effecitvely shut out of the game. Kyle Paterson got things off to a great start with the catch of the season a diving effort at point.
Fraser Hill and Rob McDonald got Frankton off to a flyer with 18 runs coming off the second over although Fraser Hill was dismissed for 19 and Rob McDonald 12, captain Don Jackson scored an unbeaten 26 and Brett Paterson on 12 saw Frankton get the required runs in the 15th over.
We look forward to the final against the Pelicans which we know will be played in good spirit. Frankton have a 1 win 1 loss record against the Pelicans over the 2 seasons of this competition both cloesely fought affairs but after the Pelicans win with just 2 balls to spare this season we understand the TAB have installed the Pelicans as favourites for the final.
