Touring Nationally throughout May is the first ever New Zealand professional season of Forbidden Broadway, a Broadway show which has had over 9000 performances worldwide.

Starring Geoffrey Hughes, Alex Milligan and Debbie Penney accompanied by Evelyn Falconer on piano {stock image used – not actual performers}.

The Daytime Concert Series, presented by Operatunity Entertainment has secured the professional rights for this fantastic show. “We are delighted to present this hilarious romp through the world of musicals spoofing show tunes, characters and plots of some of the great Broadway shows like Les Mis, Annie, Chicago and Wicked to name a few,” says Operatunity Director Geoffrey Hughes.

Forbidden Broadway is a parody, performed with love and fun. It’s a fully costumed, dramatised show, famous on Broadway for its irreverent, fun take on famous music theatre tunes.

The original version of the show opened on January 15, 1982 in New York and ran for 2,332 performances. The fall-down funny musical roast of Broadway has picked up nine Drama Desk Awards, a Special Tony®, an Obie, a Lucille Lortel and Drama League Award.

Hughes says “Everybody loves a good Broadway musical and with this show we look at a number of them from a different angle, we enjoy and celebrate their success but also enjoy a tongue in cheek dig at them. Great singing, great writing and great laughs.”

The Daytime Concert Series is presented by Operatunity, a company which presents over 200 concerts per year in 24 venues throughout New Zealand.

Winners drawn April 17 and will be notified by phone or email.

Concert commences at 11am and tickets are $30 including lunch with the artists, with discounts for groups and regular bookings.
