Good food and music is on the menu at JazzFest’s “dinner series” of gigs.
Nigel Gavin and Richard Adams – two-thirds of top New Zealand jazz ensemble Nairobi Trio – will entertain at a dinner club banquet from 7.30 tonight at Gibbston’s Winehouse and Kitchen.
Singer Briar Ross does the honours tomorrow at Jack’s Point Clubhouse from 6pm, and at 7pm on Sunday the Di Bird Trio will be at Prime with a potent mix of swing classics, Latin and blues.
Another festival highlight is sure to be a free jam at Revolver at 1am on Sunday.
It’ll feature musicians from some of the hot, Latin-tinged acts playing at this year’s jazz bash.
There’s also a host of musical workshops and forums on Saturday and Sunday at Queenstown’s QPACT rooms on Ballarat Street, with some of the biggest names from the fest, such as Kiwi singer Caitlin Smith, saxophonist Lewis McCallum and Brazilian rhythm kings Tambolele.
