Christchurch band performs for fundraiser

Christchurch funksters Oval Office are performing at Queenstown’s Dux de Lux Saturday as an earthquake fundraiser for their city.

Donations at the door will go to the Red Cross earthquake appeal.

The Dux de Lux bar/restaurant is keen to support the appeal because its long-established Christchurch venue at the Arts Centre has been shut since the February 22 quake.

Owner Richard Sinke is fighting eviction and has launched a petition to reopen his venue via a website, www.saveourdux.co.nz and a “save our Dux” facebook page.

Oval Office is an eight-piece band that last performed at Queenstown’s Dux de Lux last July.

Most of the band teaches music at the CPIT Jazz School in Christchurch.

The band’s singer, Wellington-based Sacha Vee, performed at the Queenstown JazzFest last October. She was named best vocalist at the New Zealand Jazz Festival at the age of 16.

Oval Office performs from 9pm.
