WinterFest’s opening night party will have a distinctly ’80s flavour this year.

Margaret Urlich, Annie Crummer and Debbie Harwood have been confirmed as the headline act.

The trio were part of Kiwi pop band When the Cats Away whose hits included Melting Pot and Free Ride.

Queenstown Winter Festival manager Lisa Buckingham reckons it’s the perfect way to celebrate the start of winter.

Winners of an online global music competition will also perform their first-ever gig in Queenstown.

Musicians from around the world are uploading original ‘street music’ to website feelingthestreet.com

Buckingham says no Queenstown musicians have registered - and she encourages them to do so before the May 19 deadline.
