Arthur Christmas reveals the incredible, never-before seen answer to every child’s question: ‘So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?’ The answer: Santa’s exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole.
But at the centre of the film is a story about a family in a state of comic dysfunction and an unlikely hero, Arthur, with an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns…
This is a really charming movie from Aardman Animation, the company behind Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run. There is something for all the family, even the littlest ones. A few of the jokes will go over their heads, but they’ll be too engrossed with the Christmassy-ness to notice!
The cast are fantastic. James McAvoy (Charles Xavier from the latest X-Men movie) hides his Scottish roots well as our unlikely hero, but the rest are brilliant too. Ashley Jensen (Maggie from the TV comedy Extras) plays elf Briony who is in charge of gift wrapping. I loved that she had her eyebrow pierced.
Totally recommended, brilliantly animated and guaranteed to give you a festive feeling!
Standout performance: James McAvoy and Ashley Jensen
