Running for Queenstown Lakes mayor

Age: 43

Job: Business consultant

Family: Partner Peter Laurenson, 43, Caitlin, 15, Laura, 14

Years in the Wakatipu: 12

Main claim to fame in the resort: Being involved in many community activities from formation of Branches Trust, St John Area Committee, Wakatipu High School Board of Trustees, Wakatipu Trails Trust, Netball Committee and player

Main reason for standing: I have the experience and drive to lead the council to work with the community rather than against it; to make things happen rather than putting up roadblocks; to make decisions and get the job done

Single biggest issue of interest: Debt levels and rates increases. We need to spend within our means because we do have to invest in our future through maintenance of services and enhancing opportunities for economic growth and development. One way we can do this is by simplifying our processes - current systems are inefficient and overly complicated which is massively expensive in consultant and staff time. We absolutely must reduce the wastage within these costs. I want to give good people the opportunity to make good decisions

Biggest gaffe: Inadvertently flushing my phone one day a few years ago complete with only version of all my contact details and appointments
