QUEENSTOWN ski racer Alice Robinson finished seventh in last Friday’s Giant Slalom World Cup, her best finish of the 2023 season.

Robinson, 21, says it was a ‘‘great feeling’’ to get a season-best result — she was in 19th position after her first run, which she says ‘‘didn’t really go to plan’’.

‘‘I was missing a lot of timing, that could have been due to only really focusing on the speed disciplines in the last couple of weeks, I haven’t really spent much time on giant slalom skis.’’

In round two, Robinson hit the gas as soon as she left the start gate, clocking the third-fastest second run time of the day, equal to Petra Vlohova, of Slovakia, who finished fourth overall.

It was the last women’s world cup race of the 2023 finals before the Alpine Skiing World Cup finals, which started in Andorra on Monday — Robinson is due to compete tonight.
