A Queenstowner who’s latterly been building for Trident Homes has taken over the local franchise.

Isaac Wilson, 33, who started his own business, I Wilson Building, last year, says he was approached about buying the franchise earlier this year — ‘‘not everyone’s offered [the opportunity]’’.

He’s keeping on staff who worked for former owner Adam Blackadder, who started the franchise about six years ago.

The timing’s good because there’s an open day for Trident Homes’ new Hanley’s Farm showhome — which Wilson built himself — on the Jack Hanley Dr/Muster Rd corner, this Saturday, November 25.

It’s a 190 square metre, three-bedroom home with a 47sqm one-bedroom unit attached.

‘‘A lot of it’s standard spec but then a lot of it’s what you can do, like our ensuite’s fully tiled with brass fittings.’’

Wilson says what he likes about Trident Homes is ‘‘everything’s good-quality, everything’s done properly, there’s no short-cuts’’.

‘‘At the end of the day, I’m a builder myself and I like good-quality homes — I treat every house I build as if it were my own home.’’

With building prices having levelled off, he believes now’s a better time to build than any time in the past two years.
