Netballer reps for Invercargill in NZ champs

It seems Queenstowner Alex Jones can’t get enough netball.

The 29-year-old played for the Arrowtown Rugby Club Lone Star team that won the Wakatipu Netball premier grade final this
month.

However, this season she’s also been travelling each week to Invercargill to play for the St Mary’s premier team that finished fourth in its comp.

And now she’s been selected for an Invercargill rep team that’s playing in the Netball NZ Open Championships being held in Palmerston North from September 6 till 10.

Jones, who has to raise $1500 for the trip, says she played in the Invercargill comp this year ‘‘just to challenge myself’’.

She also played Dunedin club netball for four years while studying there.

Her last rep netball was when she played for the Southland under-19 side in 2011.
