Mainland winner

Booking and concierge service Check In Queenstown won the Te Waipounamu (South Island) award at the recent Maori Businesswomen’s Awards held in Auckland.

Co-founder Maria Rapata is pictured celebrating with her mum, Donna Morahan.

Rapata started the business, aimed at giving visitors a home-away-from-home experience, with her sister, Karmela, during the depths of Covid.

‘‘This award recognises our contribution as women in business, but for us it also acknowledges the support of wahine we are surrounded by, who are our greatest collaborators and a willing source and exchange of wisdom and inspiration,’’ Karmela says.
