The developer of Queenstown’s burgeoning Hanley’s Farm subdivision has bought another potential residential development site further
down the road for about $70 million.

It’s understood Australian-based RCL Group’s purchase of a 163.46-hectare title at Homestead Bay, off State Highway 6, went unconditional two or three weeks ago.

The land — part of an original 900ha high country station, Woolshed Bay — is zoned rural, but due to its location, between Jack’s Point and Oraka (formerly Lakeside Estates), it could conceivably be rezoned for housing.

The site was originally listed for sale last April alongside an adjacent lake-facing 27.22ha block, however the latter’s apparently been taken off the market.

RCL Group couldn’t comment by deadline.
