Dream come true

Young Queenstowner Eva Turnbull is pretty sure she’s a superstar now.

The football-mad nine-year-old’s run out on to Dunedin Stadium twice during the Fifa Women’s World Cup over the past week, as a player escort, and has one more game to go — between New Zealand and Switzerland this Sunday.

Last week Mountain Scene reported she hoped to have a shot at escorting her super-heroine, Swiss forward Alisha Lehmann, at
that last game, but managed to meet her in person after Lehmann’s game in Dunedin last Friday.

The Shotover Primary pupil, and member of the Whitmarsh Football Academy, happened to be wearing a Lehmann top, so took the chance to ask her idol to sign it for her, and pose for this photo.

Her mum, Mila, says Eva ‘‘just couldn’t believe it … it’s like a dream come true’’.
