Choppers to sport noses

Supporting Cure Kids: Over The Top boss Louisa Patterson

A Queenstown chopper company’s flying in behind a charity close to the resort’s heart.

Cure Kids, which funds world-leading research into children’s life-threatening illnesses, will launch its annual Red Nose Day appeal tomorrow — its coffers will be boosted by Over The
Top Helicopters, which is kitting out its machines with red noses, and donating 10% of their ticket sales for the day to the charity.

OTT boss Louisa Patterson says they’ve previously fundraised for Cure Kids, but this year wanted to go ‘‘bigger and better’’.

‘‘Our whole team is getting behind this awesome opportunity and we came up with the exciting idea to spread the word of Red Nose Day across Otago skies by emblazoning our helicopters with red noses.’’

They’re also encouraging their customers to match the 10% donation.

Cure Kids CEO Frances Benge says she’s thrilled to see OTT get on board with Red Nose Day, particularly given the huge part Queenstown’s played in helping the charity over the past 51 years, including iconic events like the 50K of Coronet Peak endurance race.

‘‘We love seeing more local businesses get involved with Red Nose Day Appeal to support New Zealand researchers aiming to improve the lives of Kiwi children.”
