Business owners and leaders can take advantage of subsidised mental health education this month.

Headlight and Mountain Club Queenstown are coming together to upskill members and the wider business community on mental health and wellbeing at work on Wednesday, March 29.

The GoodYarn event’s being delivered by Headlight facilitators who come from the small business community and have first-hand experience in supporting staff and clients through tricky times.

Headlight CEO Anna Dorsey says the workshops are helping change attitudes about mental health, and provide practical tools to people, including what free and available national and local resources are at hand.

‘‘Our last training, people applied it the very next day when an incident arose.

‘‘We know we can’t fix the issues facing our community right now, but hope training events like this will lessen the toll on people’s mental health and wellbeing.’’

Thanks to funding from Te Hau Toka Southern Wellbeing Group, the workshop costs $35 + GST per attendee — the workshop runs from 4.30-7.30pm at the Beach Street Mountain Club.

Its CEO, Paddy Klutz, says they support Headlight and its aim to bring mental health and wellbeing awareness of business owners and staff ‘‘to the forefront’’, and see the value of bringing the community together through the workshop.
