The Queenstown Athletics Club will open its doors to young people this month to help teach them athletics skills.

On October 10 and 17, the club will host free open days for kids aged 7 to 14 to try out at the equipment at the Events Centre.

This will include coaching sessions for sprint and relays, hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put and discus.

It will coordinate specific training, and also record times for sprint and relays, heights for high jump, and distance for shot put and long jump.

The information will be collated, and at the end of each session, PB (personal best) cards will be given out to mark the kids’ achievements.

The club’s aim is to encourage the kids to come back every Tuesday until the end of the season in late March and early April next year.
