Two stag party revellers had their wallets stripped after hooking up with a couple of strippers.

The men were part of a 30-strong group celebrating their mate’s last days of freedom at the Coronet Peak Hotel last Friday.

The group had booked two girls as strippers.

After “relations” with the two women, two of the men found $1200 was missing from their wallets, Sergeant Mike Gill says.

“Enquiries are continuing in relation to the alleged theft.”

Trouble in town

An Arrowtown man faces charges of assault and wilful damage after allegedly smashing up a bar and police car.

The 36-year-old was arrested at Bunker bar, Cow Lane, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“He kept putting his drinks on the DJ equipment, being continually obnoxious and interrupting the DJ,” Gill says.

“When he was asked to leave, he struggled with the bouncers and was restrained.”

Once inside the police car, the man is said to have taken out his frustrations by smashing the interior console.
He will appear in Queenstown District Court in the New Year.

In another incident, a 26-year-old man lost his front tooth when he was assaulted outside Nomads on Church Street, at 3.10am on Sunday.

“He was punched three times in the face and his front tooth was completely knocked out, root and all.”
The victim was treated at hospital. Enquiries are continuing.

Cyclist’s double trouble

An Irish driver and his passenger escaped with minor injuries when their car rolled down a hill after clipping a cyclist.

The cyclist, a 41-year-old Queenstown man, was not so lucky. He suffered a broken leg and police found a quantity of cannabis in his bag.

The incident happened at 1.45am on Tuesday, at Lake Hayes.

“It appears the driver has tried to avoid him but has taken out the cyclist and the vehicle has then gone off-road.”

The driver, 33, and his passenger managed to get themselves out of the mangled rental car before emergency services arrived.

Police are investigating.

Drunks and toilet dodgers

Police arrested an Arrowtown man after they spotted him walking home in the rain covered by a massive umbrella.

The 21-year-old allegedly nicked the sun shade from The Postmasters Residence restaurant, Arrowtown, and was walking along Buckingham Street.

Gill says: “A passing police patrol observed him doing his best rendition of singing in the rain.

“He was grossly intoxicated and decided to use the large umbrella to keep himself dry.”

He was given a warning.

Two men were arrested after being caught peeing in public.

A 24-year-old Lawrence man was ejected from Altitude bar after door staff spotted him urinating actually on the bar, at 8pm on Sunday.

He was charged with offensive behaviour and will appear in Queenstown District Court.

A 30-year-old Aussie man was also arrested for peeing on the door of a business premises on Shotover St, at 1.15am on Saturday. He was given a pre-charge warning for offensive behaviour.

Cars smashed again

Several cars have been damaged in Queenstown again this week.

An owner returned to their vehicle parked on Ballarat St after work at 6pm on Friday to find the rear window smashed.

And two days later, two cars on Robins Road had their wing mirrors broken off.

“Nothing was taken from inside the first one – it just appears to be straight out wilful damage,” Gill says.

“If anyone sees someone damaging a vehicle, ring the police and we’ll attend.” Last week, the side windows of a car were smashed on Andrews Rd off Frankton Rd.
