Winter Classic skiing begins in Queenstown

Queenstown’s long-standing Winter Classic weekly ski race series got under way at Coronet Peak yesterday (Tuesday). 

More than 100 racers enjoyed good racing conditions. 

Participants in two-run dual slalom race as a team of up to eight – with the best four times counting for the team score – or as individuals. 

Group category winners on the first day were: Masters won by Two Paddocks, Serious won by The Cow, and Social won by Sotheby’s. 

Winners of individual categories were: Men Masters – Geoff Hunt from Two Paddocks; Women Masters – Nikki Vryenhoek from The Cow; Men Serious – Timmy O-Rock from Browns; Women Serious – Karolina Klimek from Searle Lane; Men Social – Mark Tylden; Women Social – Akiko Nakajima.
