All-rounder Sean Windle was Queenstown’s hero when the local side lifted the Central Otago Koford Cup from Albion last Saturday.
Windle, batting at No.6, clinched the 50-over match in Luggate with 79, including a crucial 80-run partnership with Morgan Walker.
The Queenstown cricketer was dropped at slip off a hard chance first ball before compiling his match-winning score in 25 overs, including two sixes and five fours.
Queenstown overhauled Albion’s 174 in the 35th over, giving the local team the 2012-13 Central Otago championship.
“It’s good to bring the cup home again,” Windle says.
Medium pacer Cam Fawkner led Queenstown’s bowling figures taking three wickets for 30.
Windle, who took two wickets, pays tribute to young quick bowler Jake Johnson, 17, who also snared two.
