People were scarce at The Remarkables’ 25th birthday bash celebrations on Sunday.

The Remarkables ski area manager Ross Lawrence says it was a disappointing turnout for the planned family fun day.

“The weather wasn’t on our side today.”

That didn’t stop staff donning retro ski gear and strutting down a catwalk in the fashion competition.

A bouncy castle for the wee ones was canned, but the horizontal bungy went ahead as planned and The Jordan Luck Band still belted out rock tunes in the near-empty cafeteria.

Melbourne visitor Brendan Jenkins was also celebrating his 25th birthday with friends on the slopes and made the most of the free face-painting.

“The mountain sorted it out to coincide with me,” Jenkins jokes.
