Arrowtowner Simon Spark and Queenstowner Kelvin Collins have been appointed to the Otago Rugby Football Union’s new six-member board.

The New Zealand Rugby Union announced the make-up of the board today (Thursday).

The NZRU also announced that the ORFU’s recovery package has gone unconditional today.

Spark and Collins have been appointed to two-year terms.

Spark – a sewerage contractor – is president of the Arrowtown Rugby Club and formerly coached the club’s successful premiers team which he still occasionally plays for.

He’s also a trustee of the Queenstown-based Southern Lakes Scholarship Trust and has helped organise an Otago Country coaches’ clinic taking place in the resort this Sunday.

Spark is also involved in athletics administration in Southland.

Collins – a prominent local real estate agent – is a former Nelson Bays rugby representative who also played for and coached the Wakatipu Premiers.

Collins has also chaired the Sevens with Altitude committee which organises the annual national sevens tournament in Queenstown.

The chairman of the new ORFU board is Doug Harvie.

Other members are Keith Cooper, John Faulks and Andrew Rooney.
