Two world-class athletes entered Queenstown event organiser Adrian Bailey’s Frontrunner Series 10km race at Jack’s Point last Saturday.
They were Wanaka-based professional triathlete Nicky Samuels and reigning Welsh marathon champion Anne-Marie Hutchison.
Bailey and Hutchison competed for Wales in the 2002 world cross-country champs in Italy before Bailey emigrated to New Zealand.
Hutchison’s winning time of 38min 29sec was the second fastest women’s 10km recorded in the Jack’s Point series, behind Belgian Ann Parmentier’s 37.52sec in 2009.
Samuels finished second female on Saturday in 40.17sec.
