Tenacious Rovers turn tables

The Queenstown Rovers football team has come from behind to beat Dunedin’s Northern 2-1 at the Events Centre last Saturday.

Coach Steve Henderson says: “Midfielder Jay Hardwick equalised with a good sweeping move, a counter attack, before the break.

“Ollie James got the winner in the second half. It was patient build-up play, ending in a goal-mouth scramble and a stab home from close range.”

Henderson adds: “Good character was shown all round.”

Centre back Graham Pickering was man of the match.

The Rovers travel to Dunedin on Saturday to play Otago University in the final game of the season. A win could see them finish fourth.
