Spoils of victory: Glenorchy Guns darts captian Damian Orman, left, with this Cromwell Hustlers counterpart Darryn Van Der Velden

By TRACEY ROXBURGH

Plans are afoot to make Central Otago a force to be reckoned with in darts.

Earlier this month the Glenorchy Guns played host to the first clash, with Cromwell Hustlers, in a hotly-contested darts match at GY’s Bold Peak Lodge.

Cromwell led 36-26 at the half-way mark and doubled down in the second, walking away with a 60-36 win.

Glenorchy captain Damian Orman says while their darts on the day could’ve been better they’re already looking forward to the rematch in Cromwell.

Hustlers captain Darryn Van Der Velden says they’re looking to expand their club, and increase competition throughout Central.

‘‘It’s awesome to see darts growing in the region.

‘‘We hope we can play heaps more inter-club comps in the area.

‘‘Hopefully we can make Central Otago a strong darts region to compete against the more established areas.’’

The Glenorchy Darts Club plays out of the Bold Peak Lodge on Friday nights.
