Stacey’s big hole

Retired Kiwi league star Stacey Jones isn’t just concentrating on this Jack’s Point golf course hole – there’s also the hole from his property play in the subdivision.

Jones and fellow former Kiwi team-mate Awen Guttenbeil shelled out $573,750 three years ago for a section at The Highlands in Jack’s Point – doubtless convinced by beleaguered Warriors owners Eric Watson and Mark Hotchin, who own The Highlands.

Section sales there during the past six months have averaged only $296,000.

Jones and Guttenbeil weren’t letting on to any bitterness when Mountain Scene caught up with them on the course last week.

“The potential’s definitely here for a fantastic lifestyle,” Jones says.

Jeremy Chisholm, who markets The Highlands, says the pair “are a bit disappointed the values have slipped, as everybody is”.
