These are just some of the almost 1000 women who took up Queenstown’s Spring Challenge multisport race last Saturday.
Three local teams achieved podium finishes in the women’s-only event in the Wakatipu.
Team KKM, comprising Kate Clark, Kimberly Barnett and Mia Bennie, finished second in the three-hour open category.
Team Hayes – Lou McDowell, Tracey Gieck and Alison Gerry – won the three-hour veteran category and Team 4 Blondes Where’s North? of Sarah Robinson, Annabel Burdon and Julie Brown were second veteran’s team in the six-hour race.
Altogether 308 three-women teams hiked/ran, rafted and mountain biked on three courses set between Chard Farm Winery and Gibbston’s Mount Rosa Winery.
The event was run by top Kiwi adventure racer Nathan Fa’avae and his wife Jodie who shifted from Nelson to Queenstown to organise it.
