Rugby youngsters get VIP treatment

Rising rugby players at Remarkables Primary now have new goal posts to play with.

Former All Black Justin Marshall, past Highlander Kelvin Middleton and ex-Wallaby Michael Brial were on hand to help launch the posts at the school’s sports field last Friday.

Following the official “kick-off” for the posts – funded through a grant from First Sovereign Trust and money raised by the Remarkables Parents Association – the new equipment was put to the test in a friendly rugby game between students and parents.

It coincided with an announcement by the RPA that they’re holding a rugby-themed function and fundraiser to take place during Rugby World Cup fever – on September 24.

RPA chairperson Tracey Pedersen says the whole school is excited about the upcoming event.

“It’s going to be another big event for the RPA this year and we look forward to sharing our love of international rugby with the community,” she says.
