A group of triathletes have been saved from missing vital training days while Queenstown’s only public indoor swimming pool is closed.
Millbrook Resort’s opened its pool to the five competitors training for Saturday’s Ironman 70.3 Taupo. Queenstown Events Centre pool’s closed until later this month, while roof tiles are replaced.
Triathlete and 15th place Queenstown International Marathon runner, Adam Wilson, says the group was “gutted” to hear about the closure.
“A closure like this can really impact athlete performance and many of us are hoping to qualify to race for NZ in the world championships in 2019.”
But they’re “elated and extremely thankful” for Millbrook’s support.
“It’s really great to see a big Queenstown tourism business help out local athletes.”
