Tauranga pro Josh Geary’s pictured with the Sir Bob Charles Trophy after snaring the inaugural two-day Millbrook Classic at Arrowtown’s Millbrook Resort last Sunday.

He won by four shots after carding a course-record 63 that took in the resort’s new  nine holes.

New Masterton pro Kerry Mountcastle finished second and local Ben Campbell and Kiwi
no.1 Ryan Fox tied for third.

The $150,000 tournament was organised as a replacement for the NZ Open, which was cancelled for the second year running due to Covid restrictions.

Geary believes his performance will give him renewed confidence when the Open returns to Millbrook next March.

‘‘I’ve never really done that well at Millbrook at the NZ Open, so today was kind of nice
to have my best round around here and break through that barrier.’’
