Entries are open for the 25th edition of the South Island’s biggest winter multisport event.
Torpedo7 Peak to Peak, in which competitors ski/board, bike, paddle and run between Queenstown’s The Remarkables and Coronet Peak skifields, runs again on August 11.
More than 300 competitors entered last year, either as individuals or in teams.
Event director Geoff Hunt says it’s been a popular “winter warmer” for multisport royalty like Steve Gurney, Floortje Grimmett and Hamish Fleming.
“It’s always drawn the best multisport athletes and has been a starting point for many more.
“The thrill of seeing the finish line in the distance as you stand at the start line on The Renmarkables is something else – it doesn’t get old.”
Hunt says Peak to Peak started after Destination Queenstown asked him to create a Winter Festival event that linked The Remarkables – “a small, little-known ski area back then” – with Coronet Peak.
