Queenstown boxers learn some lessons

Queenstown Fight Science boxing club fighters lost to more experienced opponents in Heretaunga, Wellington, last weekend.

Light heavyweight Sam Connelly, in his 13th fight, lost a split decision to Luke Siaka of Christchurch, who’s had 75 fights.

No one could believe the decision, Connely’s trainer Stewart Mitchell says. Middle-weight Callum Smith lost to Wellington’s Shiva Mishram after being dropped in the last seconds.

Welterweights Richie Hadlow and Mike Smith lost unanimously on points to Wellington’s Latu Talu and David Graham, but Mitchell says both fought well and learnt a lot.
