The 2010 New Zealand Freeski Team has been announced – and there are no surprises in the lineup.
All six snow athletes from the 2009 team retained their spots on the national squad after a stellar season on the slopes over the past year.
The list includes Queenstown’s Mitchey Greig, ranked 24th in the world for skier cross and Dunedin-based Cromwell skier Sam Smoothy who sustained a knee injury last year. The rest of the team, from Wanaka, are big mountain skier Janina Kuzma, halfpipe maestro Lyndon Sheehan, last year’s Winter Festival rail jam winner Byron Wells plus his older brother and reigning world free ski champion Jossi Wells.
For the first time, the team is selected from all mountain disciplines including skier cross, big mountain, slopestyle and halfpipe.
