Call it the life cycle of Queenstown mates Graeme Rodwell and Michael Parker.
Rodwell, 52, is pictured riding in last Saturday’s inaugural 8hrs @ Jacks mountain bike relay on a scenic 6.9km trail at Jack’s Point – one of just three big events he and Parker, 53, have entered lately.
Two Sundays ago the duo flew to Melbourne with road bikes to cycle seven and a half hours in the annual Around the Bay in a Day event – adding 12km to their gruelling 210km course by missing a left turn due to a direction arrow blowing over.
The pair, along with fellow Queenstowner Beau Rapley, then split 14 half-hour laps between them in the Jack’s Point race – where the fastest team clocked 18 laps.
Rodwell and Parker now start the four-day Five Passes Tour tomorrow, with 600km of racing over mountain passes in Canterbury and the West Coast.
