A Kiwi dart’s team’s come out on top of the world — in Queenstown at least.
For the second year, Queenstown Darts Club hosted the ‘World Cup of Nations’ championship at the Queenstown Bowling Club recently — organiser Ben Olive says three teams of eight ‘‘darters’’ entered: Kiwis, Poms and the Barbarians, aka the rest of the world.
While the Poms hoped to defend their 2021 title, glory and gloating rights went to the Kiwi team, who snatched victory by six points.
Olive says the comp will ‘‘definitely’’ become an annual event, with plans already in place for 2023’s champs, which he’s hoping to see get bigger.
‘‘It would be good if we can get another nation, like an Australian team, or a Scottish team, or a Welsh team … to play.’’
