A Wakatipu High rower who only turned 15 this year has remarkably made the South Island under-18 team.
Year 11 student Marley King-Smith (left) headed up to Cambridge’s Lake Karapiro last week, where the U18s competed against the North Island U18s on Friday and Saturday.
Rowing in the Maadi Cup national secondary school regatta at the same venue last month, Marley and fellow WHS student Sam McAtamney won gold in the U16 boys’ double sculls.
He was also in the school’s bronze-winning U15 boys’ coxed octuple sculls.
Meantime former WHS students Gigi Thomson and Ned Botherway were also selected for the South Island U18s.
