THREE World Cup Downhill mountain bike stars are hammering out laps of the Queenstown Bike Park to prepare for the coming season.
Kiwi Brook Macdonald, Austrian Markus Pekoll and Spaniard Cesar Rojo began two days of testing in the resort on Wednesday.
They will fine tune their new bikes and suspension in between runs, at Outside Sports Ride Demo Centre on Brecon Street.
Ivan Santin, general manager of Outside Sports, says: “The bike park provides a great opportunity for the team to do lots of laps in really varied terrain and conditions.
“They can fine tune after each lap by changing one thing at a time to find the optimum set up for their size and riding style.”
The 2012 World Cup will open in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, in March.
The trio are all members of the new MS Mondraker Downhill Mountain Bike Team. It set up a testing station at the centre, near the Skyline Gondola.
