Veteran Queenstown figure skater Loris Mills is now an international champ.
Mills is “still grinning from ear to ear” after topping the podium in the adult silver ladies division at both the French Mountain Cup and the International Adult Figure Skating Competition in Germany earlier this month.
It’s the first time Mills, 52, has tested her mettle against overseas rivals.
“I was the unknown entity really, and it was such a buzz going out on ice and skating for New Zealand – even though NZ didn’t know I was skating for it,” the local yoga teacher says.
“A lot of people came up and told me how much they enjoyed watching me skate, which was actually better than winning the medals themselves,” she adds.
