Local bowler Glenn “Scooter” Reid (right) was the exception, not the rule, in the interclub clash against Clyde at the Queenstown Bowling Club green last Saturday.
He and pairs partner Wayne Thompson may have lost their match-up but Queenstown – playing in teams of one pair and one triple – prevailed in three out of four clashes against the men from the hydro dam district.
Coach Terry Joyce reckons if the resort’s men in white keep playing like that, they’ve got a shot at beating the other top three clubs in the comp – Cromwell, Alexandra and Wanaka.
“[If] you get 75 per cent of the win each weekend, you’re going to have a fair show of winning the whole competition,” he says. The men will bowl at home against teams from Alexandra and Wanaka this weekend.
