The Arrowtown Premiers rugby team will be favoured to win its Central Otago semi-final game this weekend – however the Wakatipu Premiers will be underdogs.
After finishing second in the top-six round following big wins against Upper Clutha A and Roxburgh over the past two weeks, Arrowtown plays Alexandra at its home ground, Jack Reid Park, this Saturday.
Four weeks ago, it beat the same team, also at Jack Reid, 41-17.
Arrowtown, however, will be hoping its home ground thaws out – because of freezing conditions, last Saturday’s ‘home’ game had to be transferred to the Queenstown Events Centre.
Wakatipu, meanwhile, after squeezing into fourth place after scoring a four-try bonus point in its 35-24 away loss to Alexandra last weekend, takes on unbeaten Maniototo in Ranfurly this Saturday.
When the teams last squared off in Ranfurly, also four weeks ago, Maniototo easily won 24-3.
As some consolation, though, Wakatipu put up a very good challenge in their first round clash in Queenstown, only losing 39-30.
